CSA Booster hosts UNFCCC session to boost climate resilience in SME’s across Europe’s agri-food sector
31 October 2018
EIT Climate-KIC’s Deputy Director of Sustainable Land Use Pan Pan and Portfolio Manager Catherine Laurent-Polz hosted a UNFCCC Adaptation Committee Workshop session to boost climate resilience in SME’s across Europe’s agri-food sector. They presented key case studies demonstrating how climate adaptation strategies can be developed and implemented through PPPs, capacity building, technology and financing (see previous group item below for details). The interactive session generated much collaborative energy and discussion.
In summary:
- Public-private investment platforms are needed to help SMEs and startups access financing
- There is an opportunity for CKIC to expand its work global south, Africa and emerging markets
- There is scaling potential for de-risking smallholder farmer loans and micro-insurance schemes through cooperative structures in Kenya.
- New collaborative ideas in the room had potential to bring together new technologies and new partners to expand our current Geofootprint, DryGro and WINnERS projects.
